About the Sooke Fibre Arts Guild

Over 20 years ago, a small group of weavers and spinners would meet in the basement of the Knox's Church in Sooke with the guidance of Master Weaver Barb Sinclair. Most of us hadn't woven or spun in years so it was wonderful to be able to start again and dust off our looms!

For many years we were fortunate, thanks to the generosity of Fredrique and Sinclair Phillips, to hold our meetings at the Sooke Harbour House. We also brought along our 45 inch floor loom from which we did many group projects together in the upper hotel hallway. Seeing a project in process was both a curiousity and a delight to many of the Hotel guests!

After many years and many new members, we now meet at the Sooke Regional Library. We are a very diverse Fibre Arts group with rug hookers, knitters, felters, dyers along with weavers and spinners. Everyone is welcome!
