About Sherry Robb

Sherry Robb was born to design; her innate need to create art being very evident from a very young age. As an adult she carved a successful career in art in merchandising, making her living as a commercial designer. She honed her graphic skills working at magazine publishing and commercial print houses before starting her own successful, international marketing design business in 1997.

Recently that she began to earnestly study and practice with different mediums to find her voice as a fine artist.

“I love the tactile nature of creating with clay. The challenge of layering individually sculpted and painted items to compose a 3-dimensional representation of a forest woodland, flower garden or a seabed, for instance, is both difficult and extremely gratifying. The pieces really come to life. In nature, every single pebble and blade of grass is its own unique work of art and that’s something I aspire to communicate through my art.”

Sherry Robb is an award-winning artist whose sculpted work has been hailed as “highly collectible”.

SHERRY ROBB INSPIRATION

Describe your creative process and how you go about starting and completing a finished piece.

I generally have a theme in mind before beginning. I lay a foundation of clay and paint on board - and give it context such as a meadow field, or a watery pool, stepping stones, etc. Then I begin sculpting the hundreds of small items that will be used to illustrate the whole: plants, flowers, pebbles, sticks, animals, mushrooms, sea life. Once these are dry, I individually paint them and add texture such as lichen on rocks, moss on logs. Then I take them all and compose the final piece, gluing each in place and securing/strengthening them with coats of resin.

What are you most inspired by and how is this reflected in your work?

I am fascinated by our coastal sea life and mycology so those themes feature prominently in my work. I also love to create stand alone creatures like octopus, slugs, and beloved pets. I love to focus on finery of a thing - moss, lichen, mushroom gills, the glitter of mica in rocks. There is so much beauty in the smallest details.

What are your artistic goals and how does your work contribute to your community?

My vision is to make a sustainable living as a fine artist by creating custom “stop-and-wonder” works—signature pieces designed to transform focal walls and elevate showrooms, fine homes, and businesses. Each piece will be crafted to spark curiosity, invite reflection, and bring a sense of wonder into the spaces where people live, work, and gather.
