This artist calls Jordan River home and applies various artforms into his daily life. Inspiration is bountiful here for him from the magical coastal beaches and into the wild forest. Passionate about watercolor and oil painting, he creates a dreamlike story that is rich in nature and inspired from the heart.
Bruce Giizhig Barry is a Canadian Anishinaabe artist, film maker, writer, and a member of the Sandy Bay Ojibwe First Nation.
Most have likely seen his art on the poster for the Clint Eastwood film ‘Indian Horse.’ He sold his first art in 1975, and is known for robust visuals grounded in authentic individual and collective Indigenous narratives of people, animals and others. His art is collected in private and public collections internationally. He also completes mini artist residencies in Indigenous Communities, many remote and isolated, with a focus on using available resources of nature to create art.
I create vibrantly colorful works on canvas that evoke emotion and inspire joy through acrylic mediums. I relish adding my own unique touch to abstract cityscapes, figurative abstracts, animals, flowers and landscapes. I draw inspiration from nature, particularly where I live in Sooke, British Columbia.
"Hello, my name is Andrea. I am a young woman with disabilities who lives in Sooke, BC. I love to create art through painting, card making, photography, music, piano and singing. When I do the things I love to do it feels like I don’t have a disability and I don’t have to hide it. I can just be myself. My dream is to let people know that people with disabilities have talent, can do things and have big dreams. The name Mystic-i-Cards represents my creative eye for Photography."
Linda Kirstein
Art is my passion. What started as a hobby, segued into a love of learning and experimenting with different artistic media during the pandemic, and remains an intrinsic part of my daily life. I started, like most artists, painting realistic landscapes.
Having always been an “animal person” I am excited to be creative, meet great new people with their pets and provide everlasting mementos for people who love their furry friends. After 10 years there are well over 100 of my portraits gracing the walls of family homes from New Brunswick, Canada to Tasmania, Australia.
Mara Szyp is an emerging Argentinean-Canadian artist. She travelled around Argentina, through the USA where she lived in Los Angeles, later to Spain, Barcelona and then in 2005 she made her home in beautiful Vancouver Island, BC. She specializes in West Coast Landscapes and Contemporary Abstracts.
Deborah van Hattem-koff is an illustrator, fine artist, muralist and art instructor residing on a magical place called vancouver island. She has been drawing since the age of 4 and sold her first commissioned portrait at the age of 11. Her inspiration comes from the beauty of nature and wildlife, the universe, traveling and love. Part of her inspiration comes from an unforgetable, life changing experience she had while surviving on a deserted island in malaysia for 43 days far away from home. Landscapes and Mermaids are one of her favorite subjects to paint.
Deb is also a free-lance illustrator and art instuctor. She also organises paint classes for adults as well as paint classes and creative art parties for kids. She loves taking on comissioned art work projects as well as murals for businesses or private customers. Also she works as an art instructor for youth fine arts organisation amber academy in Sooke, BC
Kimberley is a self taught artist who started painting at the age of eleven. As a child, she painted with her mothers encouragement in a very broad spectrum. Her canvasses at the time were glass bottles, rocks, newspaper, tree bark; whatever was available and fun. After a brief 25 year break to raise four wonderful children, Kimberley has taken up the brush again, learning the new techniques and products of the world of art.
